Our Sports Medicine Expertise
Mercer Medicine’s sports medicine specialist diagnoses and treats injuries and illnesses common to athletes and people who are active or exercise. We offer non-operative sports medicine treatment and can refer you to an orthopedic surgeon, if necessary. However, we strive to treat injuries without surgery, saving you time, money, and risk. If your injury can be treated with physical therapy, we will refer you to a local provider best-qualified to conduct your treatment.
Some common conditions we treat include:
- Overuse injuries (tendonitis, stress fractures)
- Acute injuries (joint dislocations, fractures, and other injuries)
- Frozen shoulder
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- General exercise needs and questions
Ultrasounds allow our doctors to examine your joints, tendons, and muscles to diagnose injuries or tears. Ultrasound is a quick way to diagnose injuries without the risk of radiation exposure that comes with other imaging solutions.
This common imaging service is used to diagnose broken bones and other joint problems. You can learn more about our imaging services here.
We also have state-of-the-art physical therapy equipment allowing you to rehabilitate from your injury in the same office as your sports medicine provider.
