When you have an annual physical, it’s important to make the most of the time with your doctor. Come prepared with some questions about your health!

Let’s discuss three questions that are important to ask your doctor during your appointment. Some must-ask questions include:

Am I due for any vaccines?

Whether you’ve never been vaccinated, or it’s been a long time since being vaccinated, we can help. When you come for your annual exam, bring your vaccination records with you. If you don’t have access to them, bring the name and phone number of your vaccinating doctor. We highly recommend a booster vaccine if you haven’t had one since you were a child or if you’re traveling to another country in the near future.

How’s my weight?

In our society, we’ve been trained to think about the ideal weight as a number and not as a reflection of optimal health. It’s true that an overweight person has higher risks for diseases and other health problems, but an underweight person or malnourished person is just as susceptible to health issues! There needs to be a healthy muscle-to-fat ratio so your body can thrive.

What can I do to improve my overall health?

This is our favorite question, as it is the stepping stone to preventive health. When you choose to take action to improve your health today, you are helping your future self to be healthy! There are many ways you can improve your health such as starting an exercise routine, altering your diet, and more.
