Dr. R. Alan Williams is a licensed clinical psychologist and associate professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at Mercer University’s School of Medicine. He graduated from the University of North Carolina and Auburn University where he received his Ph.D. in Psychology in 1984. He completed a fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in behavioral pediatrics in 1986 and practiced in a hospital setting for 10 years before coming to MUSM full-time in 1995. He consults with several local and State agencies as a psychologist and provides evaluations and psychological testing for children, adults, and families.

Dr. Williams has worked with his wife Tonya, a psychometrist, for over 25 years. They have three sons who are all Mercer University graduates, as well as two grandchildren. Dr. Williams loves dogs (especially spaniels), is a certified rescue diver, collects psychedelic rock music albums, and is an avid reader.
