Originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Marita Hockstedler earned her MSN – Family Nurse Practitioner from Western Kentucky University. After moving to Warner Robins, Georgia in 2011, she initially worked at the Medical Center of Central Georgia with Macon Vascular Institute, working with patients with cardiac and vascular diseases and eventually joining Dr. Candi Nobles-James working at the Endocrine Service there. She and Dr. Nobles-James both later started at The Jones Center for Diabetes & Endocrine Wellness, where Marita stayed until joining Mercer Medicine in November 2019.

Marita has a special interest in autoimmune diseases: her mother and uncle have Type 1 Diabetes, and her daughter was diagnosed at age 10 with Type 1 Diabetes and later with Addison’s Disease and Hashimoto’s Disease. Because of her family connection to endocrine diseases, she understands the importance of quality care and is dedicated to providing exceptional service to all of her patients.

Marita has been married for 35 years to her husband, Kris Hockstedler. They have 2 adult children and have just welcomed their first grandchild. She attends church at Ingleside Baptist Church and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
